This is a question with many answers.
Your physical body, broken down to its chemical elements – oxygen, carbon, hydrogen and the like – is worth about $1USD according to an article at thoughtco.com. The article goes on to say that if you include your skin, the value of your body jumps to $5 – about the price of a fast food value meal. On the other hand, if you sold your body piece by piece – bone marrow, kidneys, lungs, etc. – you could fetch upwards of $45million USD!
The United States minimum wage for an hour of labor is $7.25USD. It is 1,453.28 EUR per month in the United Kingdom, 330.00 Belarusian rubles per month in Belarus, and 18,000 naira per month in Nigeria. Governments place different values on employees based on industry, skill level, and age among other variables.
Amazon’s Jeff Bezos is the world’s richest man with $131billion USD. He’s followed by Bill Gates of Microsoft with $96.5billion USD and Warren Buffet with $82.5billion USD.
What do YOU think you’re worth
Some believe that self-worth is interchangeable with self-esteem, however, the dictionary defines self–worth as “the sense of one’s own value or worth as a person” and self-esteem as “confidence in one’s own worth or abilities.” Self-worth values who you are. Self-esteem values what you do. Self-worth is much deeper, as it is how you value yourself. As you strive to create your best life, your self-worth is important because it is the source of your very thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
The Law of Attraction says that anything that your mind can conceive and believe you can achieve. If you don’t believe you deserve better, you won’t conceive of better. The theme of this blog is ask, believe, receive. But, if you don’t believe you’re worth much, you won’t ask for much. This is all a mind game. How do you boost your self-worth if you suffer from what Zig Ziglar called stinking thinking?
Control Your Thoughts
As children, we believed that we were the center of the world. When we cried, our needs were met almost instantly (depending on our parent’s tolerance for crying!) Our self-worth was at 100. However, as we aged, limitations and harsh words from friends and (unfortunately) family began to chip away at that self-worth. A teacher compared you to a smarter student. Ding. Your mom compared you to a prettier cousin. Ouch. A love interest left you for a sexier mate. Ugh! Over a lifetime of these ego
bruisers, your self-worth can find itself hovering at around 40-50. You’ll never be able to manifest better for yourself at that level!
To get your thoughts under control requires a bit of positive work on your part to counter the negativity that bombards you. Affirmations let you change the stories that you hear in the world.
For any situation that you face, an affirmation exists to countermand it!
Momentary sadness? I choose to be happy right now. I love my life.
Wallowing in lack? I appreciate everything I have. I live in joy.
Experiencing stage fright? I am courageous. I am willing to act in spite of any fear.
Doubting yourself? I am positive and optimistic. I believe things will always work out for the best.
Lonely? It’s easy to make friends. I attract positive and kind people into my life.
Go ahead and give it a try. Repeating the affirmation has the ability to reprogram your mind to the reality that YOU choose.
Take Command of your Feelings
Another practice of the Law of Attraction is visualization. Visualization is akin to daydreaming, but it’s directed towards your specific goals. If affirmations are the bones of your goals, visualizations are the meat. Visualizations give you the opportunity to add your senses to the words of your affirmations. See what you would see, hear what you would hear, feel what you would feel when your desired reality comes to pass. To be most effective, it is important to incorporate your feelings – more specifically, your emotions – into your visualizations.
Emotions are the fuel of your dreams. How will you feel when the Universe finally grants your biggest wish? Happy, grateful, excited, loved, joy? Earl Nightingale summed up the Law of Attraction as “you become what you think about most of the time.” If you are actively visualizing throughout the day, you will exude these strong positive emotions and draw this reality to yourself even quicker!
Mind your Behaviors
There are so many societal rules that govern our lives: Say please and thank you. Show deference to the elderly. Be punctual. These have been ingrained in us. Now I have a few more to add to this list. These may take a little while to get used to, but they will bring your dreams to you sooner.
- Eliminate “I can’t” from your vocabulary. Don’t put limits on yourself. Consider new experiences as opportunities instead of challenges.
- Walk, talk, and otherwise behave as you would if your dream was already a reality. How would you dress? Where would you go? What would you order at your favorite restaurant? Start living pieces of your dream now. Feel what you would feel, remember?
- Maintain an attitude of gratitude. When you are grateful for what you have, the Universe will give you more to be grateful for.
You are completely, totally, 100% responsible for creating your reality. Your self-worth is directly tied to what that reality looks like. You have to truthfully assess where your self-worth is and work towards getting it as close to 100 as you can (opportunity, not challenge). If you are struggling with your self-worth, consider this: But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.(Romans 5:8) Yes, you are worth THAT much to the Creator of the Universe!
